M. Minter Passes Away Dr. Milton McLendon Minter Died at his home i n Donalsonville 12:10 A. M. October 6t h., after lingering illness, thus taking from our midst one of the best loved and most highly respected citizens of the County. He was 73 years of age and a native of this section of Georgia who spent his long and useful life among those he loved most and served best. Dr. Minter was the mayor of the City of Donalsonville, President of the Commercial State Bank, mem- ber of the local school board, and a leader in all civic movements look- ing to the advancement and bet- terment of the city and community. In 1904 he married Miss Eva Funderburke and from this happy union a spelendid family sprung, a family that has proven a blessing to mankind and one that has proven and (sic) inspiration in all spiritual and social activities of the city and county. Dr. Minter was that rare type of manhood whose personality was impressive at site. He was ever ready with a kind word and a gregar- ious smile for everyone. He was t h e embodiment of honesty and straightforwardness and his going away creates a void in the life of our city and county which will never be filled just as he filled his station in life. To say that he will be missed is inadquate. Funeral rites were observed from the Methodist Church and inter- ment at the Donalsonville Cemetery. Rev. M. W. Flanders pastor of the Methodist Church officiated assisted by Rev. Whitt Aiken of the Baptist Church, Rev. Doyle Smith , of the Nazarene Church and Rev. G. W. Bates, o f Bainbridge, Georgia. M i s s Ruth Lansel of Asbury College, rendered two beau- tiful songs accompanied b y Mrs. L. Roberts at the Piano. Pallbearers were R. M. Holman R. E. Wheeler, B. B. Clarke, A. H a y, Paul Shingler, C. C. Thomas Henry V a n Landingham and E. E. Mosely. Surviving is the de- voted wife, M r s. E v a Minter, five children: M r s. D. F. Wurst, Mrs. Lydia Driskell, M. M. Minter, J r., Miss Frances Adelle Minter and William Harris Minter. And so, after the sunset, our beloved friend a n d f ellow-citizen passed on into a realm of eternal light, that realm just over the clouds where G o d walks. Tender sympathies from the entire county go out to the bereaved family.
