To the Ordinary of Spalding County. We the undersigned apply for letter of 
administration on the estate of Thos J. Ellis as next of kin & as friend We 
reside in Spalding County State of Georgia and are of lawful age to administer. 
Decedent resided in said county at the time of his death. His estate is suppose 
to be worth three thousand dollars & consist of negro, notes & stock 
July 14th 1862						S.D. Bennett
							L.F. Ellis

Citation having been dully issued & published, requiring all & singular the 
next of kin and creditors of Thos. J. Ellis, decd. Late of said county to 
appear & show cause if any they have why permanent letters of Administration 
should not be granted to S.D. Bennett & Leonora F. Ellis of said county & no 
objection having been made. Ordered by the court that Letters of Administration 
of Thos. J. Ellis estate be granted to said S.D. Bennett & L.F. Ellis upon this 
giving bond & security in the sum of six thousand dollars.

It appearing to the court that it would greatly injure the estate of Thos. J. 
Ellis to have the same sold and disposed in its present condition – therefore 
ordered by the court that S.D. Bennett Admr. & L.F. Ellis Admx. Keep said 
estate together till winter & they are authorized to use the provisions on hand 
in keeping up the farm & completing the crop which is now more that half 
made.                                By The Court.
