Company C, 28th Regiment
Spalding County
"Crawford Rangers"
or
"Jennings Light Guards"

This company left Kinston, North Carolina for Richmond,
Virginia July 3, 1863, and arrived there July 7, 1863. Left
camp near Richmond, Virginia for Wilmington, North Carolina
July 10, 1863, and arrived there July 13, when they marched
seventeen miles to camp. Ordered to Charleston, South
Carolina August 9, 1863 and arrived there August 10, when
they marched to James Island. A portion of this company left
for Fort Sumter, South Carolina August 25, 1863, and the
remainder was ordered to Morris Island, South Carolina to
relieve the 23rd Regiment Georgia Infantry, the 20th
Regiment South Carolina Infantry and the 8th Regiment North
Carolina Infantry. Took position in Battery Wagner, South
Carolina August 31, 1863.

Beale, E. B. -- Private - March 3, 1862. Appointed 5th
Sergeant. Roll for December 31, 1863, last on file, shows

Beale, G. G. -- Private - September 10, 1861. Died at
Winchester, Virginia September 12, 1862.

Beale, John W. (or Beall) -- Enlisted as a private in
Company F, 12th Battalion Georgia Light Artillery.
Transferred to Company C, 28th, Regiment Georgia Infantry,
in exchange for James M. Cliatt, February 1864; to Company
D, in 1864. Wounded at Monocacy, Maryland July 9, 1864.

Beale, T. C. -- Private - September 10, 1861. Surrendered,
Greensboro, North Carolina April 26, 1865.

Blitchington, Chester B. -- Private - March 5, 1862. Roll

Buck, John G. -- Private - September 10, 1861. Captured at
Williamsburg, Virginia May 5, 1862. Exchanged. Roll for
December 31, 1863, last on file, shows him present. Pension
records show he was transferred to Company G, 1st Regiment
Georgia Regulars February 25, 1864, and surrendered at
Greensboro, North Carolina April 26, 1865. (Born in Richmond

Harbor, Virginia June 2, 1864. Furloughed from hospital and
assigned to Provost Guard duty at Augusta, Georgia in 1864,
where he remained until close of war. (Born in Richmond
