LOU PITTS DIES SUNDAY NIGHT Mrs. Lou Pitts, 76, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Gaddy, in East Griffin Sunday night at 10:30 o’clock, after an illness of about two weeks. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Gaddy and Mrs. Gus Mills, also of Griffin; one son J.B. Pitts, Meansville; one sister, Mrs. M.S. Williamson, and two brothers, John Buchannan, and C.T. Buchannan, all of Griffin. Funeral services will be held from Mt. Gilead Baptist church in Pike county Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. J.F. Norton will officiate. Burial will be in the churchyard with Haisten Brothers, funeral directors in charge. COLUMBUS MAN, WELL KNOWN HERE PASSES Charles Phillips, 86, of Columbus, father of Mrs. T. J. Brooks and Mr. Charles Phillips, Jr., of Griffin died at his home in that city early today. Mr. Phillips had often visited Griffin and was well-known here. Mrs. Brooks and Mr. Phillips left today for Columbus to attend their father’s funeral, which will take place tomorrow. FUNERAL SERVICES FOR JAMES M. STILLWELL Funeral services for James M. Stillwell, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lillie Stillwell, at 114 Randall street, Saturday night, were held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev J. G. Lupo officiated. Burial was in East Griffin cemetery with Haisten Brothers, funeral directors in charge. PROMINENT LAMAR COUNTY FARMER DIES AT MILNER HOME Benjamin T. Martin, 66, one of Lamar county’s most prominent farmers, died at his home near Milner Sunday morning at an early hour after an extended illness. He had been in feeble health for some time and confined to his bed for the past five weeks. He is survived by his wife, two sons, E. J. and J. S. Martin, three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Clark, Mrs. Ludie Williams and Mrs. Nora Carden, and one brother, Charlie Martin. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock form the Methodist church at Milner, Rev. J. A. Sprayberry officiating. Interment was in the Milner cemetery, frank S. Pittman, of Griffin, funeral director.
