LUTHER CHAMBERS GOES TO REWARD Luther M. Chambers, well-known farmer of Fayette county, died at his home in Brooks Sunday morning at 8 o’clock. Mr. Chambers had been ill for the past six months. He suffered a paralytic stroke recently. He is survived by his widow, five daughters, Mandy, Eunice, Sara, Mary and Alice Chambers, and four sons, N. A., L. S., A. L., and C. R. Chambers all of Brooks. Funeral services were held from the Whitewater Baptist church near Brooks this morning at 10 o’clock. Rev J. P. Norton officiated. Interment was made in the churchyard with Haisten Brothers in charge. MR. WARREN GARRETT IS LAID TO REST Funeral services for Warren D. Garrett, well-known resident of Zebulon, who passed away Thursday, were held Friday afternoon from the Zebulon Baptist church. The Rev. C. B. Brooks, pastor, officiated, assisted by the Rev. G. H. Bailey. Interment was in the Zebulon cemetery with Haisten Brothers in charge. Mr. Garrett was 69 years old and had been ill for about 18 months. He had been section foreman of the Southern Railroad for the past 35 years. He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. R. L. Luther, of Gainesville, and Miss Sara Garrett, of Zebulon; and three sons, Marshall Garrett, of Griffin and New Garrett and W. D. Garrett Jr., both of Zebulon. MISS THOMPSON GOES TO REWARD Miss Lillian Alberta Thompson, 22, daughter of Mrs. Alice Thompson died at the Griffin Hospital Saturday evening at an early hour following an illness of only a few days. Although she had been ill for several months her condition became critical only a few days ago and she was rushed to the hospital where x-ray examinations were made and it was found that she had a tumor of the brain. Funeral services were held from the Devotie Baptist church at Experiment this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. J. F. Norton officiated. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery with Haisten Brothers funeral directors in charge. In addition to her mother she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Williamson and Miss Alice Thompson, and four brothers, J. J. Thompson, A. R. Thompson, H. H. Thompson, and E. E. Thompson. IMPRESSIVE FUNERAL FOR MR. C. B. PITTS Impressive funeral services were held from the Mt. Gilead Baptist church in Pike county Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock for C. B. (Lum) Pitts. Rev. Mr. Powell officiated and interment was made in the family cemetery with Haisten Brothers funeral directors in charge. Mr. Pitts had made his home in Pike and adjoining counties all his life and was well-known here. His health had been failing for several months and since the death of his wife last March he had grown steadily worse. The entire community sympathize with the son who is the only survivor. MISS SARA MCFARLAND, POPULAR YOUNG GIRL DIES TODAY Miss Sara McFarland, 19, daughter of Mrs. Annie McFarland died at the Griffin Hospital this morning following a short illness. She was one of the most popular young girls in the community and counted her friends by all who knew her. In addition to her mother she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Ray, of Griffin; Mrs. R. J. McKibben, of Marietta, Ga.; Mrs. Clayton Sweatman, of Griffin and Miss Margaret McFarland of Griffin and two brothers, W. L. McFarland of Georgetown, Ga., and J. H. McFarland of Griffin, Ga. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Haisten Brothers funeral directors in charge. LITTLE JEFF HANSON IS LAID TO REST Funeral services for Jeff Henson, the 5-year-old son of the Mrs. W. A. Henson, were held from the Rock Springs church Saturday afternoon. The Rev. J. A. Langford officiated and the interment was in the churchyard with Frank S. Pittman funeral director in charge. The little fellow died after an illness of several days at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. English. In addition to Mr. and Mrs. English, he is survived by his mother and one brother, William E. Henson.
