It was some months after the untimely death of the young man before the circumstances, which led to the arrest of the woman, and joined to her as perpetrator of the four crimes, came to light. We did not hear the evidence given to the Jury on the part of the State, last week, but learn from those that did, that it was strong, and but for circumstances developed during the trial tending to discredit the testimony of the main witness for the State would probably have convicted the prisoner of the crime charged. The case was submitted to the Jury on Friday evening last, who, we understand, came into Court on Saturday morning and announced a “mistrial” – seven being for convicting the prisoner and five for acquittal. The woman was taken back to jail to await another trial at the next term of our Superior Court. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
