CRESSWELL, GEORGIA.
THE SCENE OF THE AWFUL TRAGEDY.
     On Sunday night last about 9:30 o'clock a terrible tragedy was enacted near
Creswell, Georgia, six miles west of Griffin, in Spalding County. Dr. Barrett
and his wife both over 80 years of age, were literally beaten to death with a 
car couplin pin in the hands of some unknown party. Mrs. Barrett was killed
instantly and the Dr. after suffering untold misery for several days died 
Thursday night.
     Will Nunnally, a grand son, was the only one living with the old people
and when he came home Sunday night he found the old people weltering in their 
blood. He aroused the neighbors and everything possible was done to save the 
life of Dr. Barrett. For a while it whispered around that young Nunnally was 
the murderer, but it is now known beyond any doubt that he is not.
     Every effort is being used to find the guilty parties. When found Judge
Lynch will surely preside.
