Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia Saturday night about four miles east of here, a shooting and cutting affray occurred in which H.A. Shockley shot William Perkins with a shotgun and cut him 23 times with a knife. Sheriff Milner was notified early Sunday morning and went out through four inches of snow to arrest Shockley, who was found without any trouble and gave himself up without any resistance. Mr. Shockley is a quiet and peaceable young man. He numbers his friends by the score who regret very much to hear of his present troubles. He was to have had a preliminary hearing before Justices Hartley, Slade and McLeroy yesterday but on account of the absence of his attorney, Col. J.F. Redding, the hearing was continued until Saturday the 25. Dr. Wells, of Orchard Hill, the attending physician for Mr. Perkins was here and stated that the chances for Perkins recovery were poor.
