Griffin, Georgia Cavalry Reunion Six Regiments to Meet at Rome on the Third of October At the annual meeting of the Sixth Georgia regiment at Sardis church, Floyd county, it was decided to call a reunion of the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Georgia cavalry regiments. Accordingly the following notice was inserted in the Tribune of Rome: At a reunion of the sixth Georgia Cavalry brigade at Rome, Ga. on Wednesday the third day of October, 1888. All members of the First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Georgia Cavalry will please write to me at once that I may know their addresses. Low rates will be given on all railroads. Your old commissary, J.A. Bale, President Our attention being called to this announcement, S.H. Deane, the last orderly sergeant of Company E, of the Second Georgia regiment, was interviewed and kindly furnished us the names of the survivors, as well as he could remember, of his company. The following officers left in command of the company: F.M. Ison, Captain; T.J. Brooks, 1st Lieut.; R.A. Thompson, 2nd Lieut.; Chas. King, Ensign; Privates, H.C. Burr, T.J. Ison, E.J. Ison, J.M. Jones, S.H. Deane, W.J. Bridges, H.A. Jones, Jeff Cariker, Chas. Bailey, Drew Bailey, E. Findlay, Bud Finlay, Chas. Travis, Tom Travis, M.J. Patrick, Shade Heflin. Jeff Ellis, Davis Aiken, John A. Wilson, W.A. Ellis, H.E. Ellis, Calloway Franklin, W.W. Johnson, James Allen, Jack Swan. The Second Georgia Cavalry brigade opened the battle of Chicamauga and were relieved by Longstreet's division. They were very highly complimented by Gen. Longstreet after the battle. The most noted event in their battles in this State was the capture of Gen Stoneman near Macon by a detachment of the brigade under Col. Crews. They took part in a great many important engagements during the war and were always noted for their bravery. A great many of the old veterans will attend this reunion.
