Griffin, Georgia A Golden Occasion The Fifth Anniversary of Judge Stillwell's Marriage The 11th of September Mr. and Mrs. Judge J. Stillwell celebrated their fiftieth anniversary, the golden wedding. It was one of those happy, joyous occasions that will long be remembered by all present. Even nature seemed to don her brightest hues for this special occasion, for after a week of rain and gloom, old Sol came out in all his splendor. At an early hour the guests began to arrive and by noon, the rooms were filled with as pleasant, delightful people as was ever my fortune to meet. The dining room was most beautifully decorated: a mass of vines and flowers, with a miniature lake, one could almost imagine a fairies bower - all the artistic work of Misses Lula and Myrtice McDonald, Anna, Myra and Sallie Daily and Emma Knott, assisted by the gallant Otis McDonald. The table fairly groaned under its heavy burden. The most fastidious epicure could have not have found fault. There were present nine children and twenty three grandchildren. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. Bates, Mr. White, Dr. McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Patterson, Otis McDonald, Mrs. Nelson and Misses Lula and Myrtice McDonald, of Griffin; Mr. and Mrs. Markham of Atlanta; Mrs. E. Knott; Paul Turner, Mrs S. Daily, G. Knott, Mrs A. Turner and Misses Anna, Myra and Sallie Daily, Emma and Mattie Knott of McDonough; Dr. LaFevre and wife, Dr. Mitchell and wife, Squire Stillwell and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ball, L. Ball, A.J. Stillwell and wife, and Lucius LaFevre.
