Beeks, Eminent at Griffin Bar, Is Dead of Paralysis Griffin, Ga., April 20. - Judge Walter C. Beeks, for many years [a] prominent member of the Griffin bar and one of the city’s most honored citizens, died at his home on South Hill street at 3 o’clock this morning from paralysis. He had been in declining health for some time. Judge Beeks was born in originally Henry, now Spalding county, Georgia, September 26, 1846. He came to Griffin when a young man. He was for more than 20 years judge of the county court here. He was prominent in politics, as well as social, civic and religious affairs, and represented the twenty-sixth district in the Georgia senate in 1895-95. He was married to Miss Jennie Hammond, January 18, 1876, and is survived by his widow; one son W.H. Beeks, of Macon; one daughter, Mrs. J.D. Boyd, of Griffin; one brother W.M. Beeks, of Griffin, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Beeks Johnson, of Savannah. The funeral will take place at St. George’s Episcopal church Sunday afternoon, of which the deceased was a member.
