The Griffin Daily News. Griffin, Georgia, Wednesday
Morning, February 20, 1889

Mr. J.C. Higgins, an old and respected citizen of
this city, died at his residence on Tuesday morning
at 2 o'clock. He has been in failing health for some
time and his death was not wholly unlooked for. He
has filled the office of city sexton efficiently for several years past, and for twenty-two years has been an honored member of
No. 1 Fire Co. He leaves a wife and several children
to mourn his loss. He was 61 years of age. Funeral
services at three o'clock this afternoon at his late
residence.
