Griffin’s Oldest Citizen Dies

Griffin, Ga., January 27. - (Special.) - O.H. Ison, the oldest citizen of 
Griffin, died at his home here Friday morning after a long illness. He was 
born in Spalding county in 1833 and for many years was engaged in the 
mercantile business here. He was 89 years of age at the time of his death.

The deceased is survived by one son, E.L. Ison, of Terre Haute, Ind.; two 
daughters, Mrs. Walter McWilliams, and Mrs. Mary I. Slade, of Griffin. Funeral 
services will be held Saturday morning, conducted by Dr. James E. Dickey. 
Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
