J.W. RUSSELL GOES TO REWARD Funeral services for Mr. John W. Russell, 71, who died at his home on the Zebulon-Williamson road Friday, were held from the graveside in the Shockley family cemetery this morning at 11 o’clock. Rev. D.A. Brindle officiated. Interment was in the cemetery with Haisten Brothers, funeral directors, in charge. Mr. Russell died at his home Friday morning after an illness of several weeks. He has many friends in Spalding county who regret to learn of his passing. He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Nora Presley and Mrs. Alice Gibson, of Lifsey Springs, and two sons, A.A. Russell, of Williamson, and J.R. Russell of Senoia. MRS. GEO. COCHRAN GOES TO REWARD Mrs. George Cochran, 58, died this morning at the family residence near the Spalding-Butts county line. She had been in poor health for sometime and recently developed flu which went into pneumonia. Her death has thrown the community in which she lived into sorrow as she was a popular woman, greatly beloved for her fine character. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock from Friendship Presbyterian church in Butts County with Frank Pittman in charge of arrangements Rev. A.J. Warner, of Thomaston will officiate. Interment will be in the churchyard. Mrs. Cochran is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Ewell Letson, of Jackson, and Mrs. W.H. Maddox, of Barnesville, one brother, W.L. Wilder, of Jackson, and a half-sister, Mrs. Mary McKibben, of North Carolina. MR. R. R. SMARR DIES AT HAPEVILLE Mr. Robert Reid Smarr, 68-year-old former resident of Griffin, died at his home in Hapeville, Ga., this morning at 9:40 o’clock. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Haisten Brothers, funeral directors, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Rev. W.A. Duncan, of East Point, will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. J.B. Turner, pastor of the First Baptist church here. Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be H.O. Lynch, J.E. Mitchell, Jr., N. S. Westbrook, Henry McWilliams, D.C. Westbrook, and G.B. Walker. They are asked to meet at Haisten Brothers chapel at 2:15 o’clock. Lived In Griffin Until a few years ago Mr. Smarr made his home in Griffin where he was well known, and was one of the most influential citizens of the county. For several months he had been in failing health, and although immediate members of the family had been expecting his death momentarily, it was a great shock to his many friends here. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J.H. Brisendine, Griffin, and Mrs. E.L. Rogers, Jr., East Point; two sons, J.R. Smarr, East Point, and R.N. Smarr, of Atlanta; three sisters, Mrs. H.L. Minter, Sunnyside; Mrs. D.C. Thompson, Decatur, and Mrs. D.W.
