NUTT Our pen has been chosen to contribute a brief obituary of our friend and fellow citizen, late of Spalding County. Mr. NUTT was born in Spalding County, Ga., on the 19th of July 1849. In his early manhood he was married to Miss SAMANTHA RODGERS, but she survived only a short time, and our friend was left alone. After this he was married to Miss EMMA DUKE, who also in the course of human events passed away, and left him with two small children to provide for. Realizing that it was not good for man to be alone, he was induced to look for another companion to share with him the joys and sorrows of this precarious and changeable life. Never was man more fortunate in the selection of a woman to fill the vacuum produced in the house by the loss of his first companions. This grand, incomparable woman was found in the person of Miss SALLIE BARFIELD, whose untiring devotion to the man to whom she vowed at the marriage altar an unwavering faithfulness, so long as they both might live, and the life-long obligation was faithfully kept until severed by the cold hand of death. By this happy union there are two little boys and one or two little girls left without the watchful care of a loving father to confront the rough places that are often found while running life’s eventful journey. It is not necessary in this ?cennection? to speak of the loathsome disease with which our late friend was so long and deeply afflicted. Let it suffice to say, he bowed in humble submission to the sovereign will of Him who orders all things after the counsel of His own infinite wisdom. Our friend for a long time greatly desired that he might be recovered, from his deep and loathsome affliction, but when he clearly saw that he was doomed to die, he calmly surrendered the prospects and hopes of this life and looked away through the shed blood of the central cross to that cleansing fountain that could wash away all the stains of life, and make him a fit mate for his Master’s use. After many wearisome months of deep suffering, at half past 9 o’clock, on Friday night of the 6th day of January, 1893, JOHN H. NUTT died without a goad or struggle in glorious anticipation of a better life in the “over beyond.” May God of love raise up a host of true and sincere friends to aid and guide those dear little children over life’s rugged pathway, and may they all meet again in the sweet bye and bye.
