Zebulon, Pike County, Georgia, September 8, 1899 Capt. T.B. Williams Dead Milner, Ga., Sept. 5 - Captain Thomas B. Williams died at the residence of Mr. Thomas Harper in Spalding county, on Saturday last at 3 o’clock. In the death of Captain Williams is removed one of the old landmarks and one of the links that connected the old regime with the new. Captain Williams was 87 years and six months of age, and hence was of a mature age when the events that led up to the war between the states were transpiring. He was a strong believer in the plan of succession and took active part in his neighborhood in the hot discussions of all these subjects during that eventful period. Captain Williams was one among the old time southern planters and was prominent in the connection as well as in politics and religion. In religion he was a Primitive Baptist and his faith in its doctrines and practices never altered from his first connection with the church, to old years age, until the day of his death. During the palmy days of the deceased, his home was one of great hospitality where he entertained with a lavish hand. The misfortune of war swept Captain Williams property away as it did many of the old time planters, but he never soured or repined. The wife, children and grandchildren of this veteran all preceded him to the great beyond, but in all his losses and bereavements his cheerful spirits bore him up and though it would seem that he would have been lonely, yet he seemed to enjoy life up to the day of his death. He was buried with Masonic honors at Countyline church, Liberty Hill, Ga., in the presence of a large concourse of people of the families of his old time friends and contemporaries.
