Mr. Jack Huckaby, Fireman 22 Years, Dies at Hospital

Mr. Horace Jack Huckaby, 329 North Sixth Street, who was employed by the 
Griffin Fire Department for 22 years died Wednesday night about 8 o'clock at 
the Strickland Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Huckaby was on his job until Monday 
afternoon when he was taken to the hospital where he underwent an operation.
Mr. Huckaby is survived by his wife, the former Miss Nora Goss; two sons, J.J. 
Huckaby of Griffin and Corporal Clayton S. Huckaby, stationed in the European 
Theater; four brothers, C.A. Huckaby, Lon Huckaby, Emmett Huckaby, all of 
Griffin, and Olin Huckaby of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Ison and Mrs. 
George Rhodes, both of Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at Haisten's Chapel Friday afternoon at 3 
o'clock Rev. Zach C. Hayes, Jr., will officiate.  Interment will be in Oak 
Hill Cemetery.
