Funeral services over the body of Eugene Irvine, who was killed in an automobile accident near Experiment Saturday morning, were held at the home of his parents, Rev. and Mrs. W. T. Irvine, at the First Methodist parsonage on South Hill street Sunday afternoon at four o'clock. The services were conducted by Dr. W.L. Pierce, presiding elder of the Griffin district, assisted by Rev. D. B. Cantrell, of the Third Methodist church; Rev. Nath Thompson, of the Griffin Circuit; Rev. J. E. Sammons, of the First Baptist church, and Rev. W. A. Murray, of the First Presbyterian church. The ministers paid beautiful tribute to the memory of the deceased, who was an excellent young man and had many friends who were grieved at his untimely death. The floral offerings were beautiful and abundant and a large concourse of sorrowing friends were present to pay their best respects. It was one of the most impressive funerals ever held in Griffin though particularly sad. The remains were taken to LaGrange for burial on the train leaving here at 8:52 Monday morning. Those accompanying the body to its last resting place were Rev. W. T. Irvine, the grief stricken father, Mr. Willard Irvine and Mrs. Mrs. Baldwin, brother and sister of the deceased; Dr. W.L. Pierce, M.J. Daniel, W.H. Wheaton, B.B. Brown, and Frank Pittman. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
