Thompson Passes Away in Atlanta Pioneer Resident of Griffin Dies at Private Sanitarium to Which She Was Carried a Week Ago. Mrs. Mary H. Thompson, a pioneer resident of this city, died Saturday night at nine o'clock at a private sanitarium in Atlanta, to which she was carried for treatment one week ago. She had been in declining health for several months, but was seriously ill for only a short time, her death coming in the nature of a shock to members of her family and many friends. Mrs. Thompson was born in Griffin seventy-three years ago, the home of her parents at that time being located on the lot where the Episcopal church now stands. She was a widow and is survived by two sons, Mr. Ed S. Thompson, of Atlanta, and Mr. James F. Thompson, of this city. She was a sister of E. W. and C. R. Doe both of Griffin, and leaves other relatives to mourn her loss and cherish her memory. The remains were brought to Griffin Sunday afternoon on the 1:45 Central train and the funeral took place from the First Presbyterian church, of which Mrs. Thompson was a consistent member, Rev. Malcolm McKay conducting the obsequies. The interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery following the ceremonies at the church.
