James Irvin, a soldier, committed suicide about three o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of his mother on Randall street, by shooting himself through the heart. He fell into the arms of his mother. His wife was present and witnessed the tragedy. The deceased enlisted in the army at Fort McPherson about five weeks ago and was visiting his home on furlough. It is said that he was dissatisfied with the army and ended life rather than return to camp. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. I. (or L) B. Irvin, two brothers and his young wife. The funeral will be held from the home Wednesday morning at ten o'clock, Rev. Mr. Kent officiating.
