Pitts Dies From Injuries in Local Hospital Young Man Who was Shot by Frank Armistead at Williamson Dies Here. Shooting Followed Quarrel A Week Ago. Armistead Was Acting as Town Marshall at Time of Shooting Which Occurred in a Store at Williamson. Hyman L. Pitts, who was shot by Frank Armistead at Williamson Saturday night, died from his injuries at 5:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Griffin Hospital, to which he was brought Sunday morning. The shooting occurred Saturday afternoon in a store at Williamson, Pitts being shot one time in the left side, according to reports received here, and followed a quarrel which the two men are said to have had last Saturday night one week ago. They met again and renewed the difficulty, resulting in the shooting. Pitts was a young man about nineteen years of age and Armistead is a married man, age about thirty years. Armistead was acting as town marshall at Williamson at the time the shooting occurred. He was arrested Sunday and committed to jail in Zebulon, without bail, according to reports received here Monday. Funeral services over the body of Pitts were held Monday afternoon, being conducted in an impressive manner by the Rev. J. A.
