A Negro Shoots Himself
Griffin News
     A negro boy about sixteen years old, named Newton Smith, shot himself with 
a pistol about eight o'clock Sunday morning at the residence of Dick Price, 
colored, near Sunny Side. The boy was employed by Price and was not very bright,
and finding a pistol under the pillow of Hark Price, his room mate it is 
surmised that he shot himself with it accidentally. The ball entered his breast 
and produced death a short time afterward. A coroner's jury was impaneled and 
brought in a verdict in accordance with the above facts.
