They probably subscribed to a GA newspaper(s), but these may just be articles sent them by people 'back home'. She was from Calhoun (Gordon Co.) and he from Sunnyside. The name of the newspaper, and alas date of obit / marriage announcement is not given in most cases.** From the Mena [Arkansas] Star 12-24-56 HARRY STARR Funeral service for Harry Starr, who died Thursday, December 20, was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the First Methodist church with the Rev. Warren D. Golden, pastor, officiating. Burial at Pinecrest Memorial park was directed by the Beasley-Wood Funeral home. The pallbearers were J. Roy Ivey, Lester Moon, Kelsie Skinner, Allen B. Johnson, Ray Johnson, Herman Wood, Rev. Coy Chatham, Ray Jordan, J. W. Byers and Clifford Standridge. Honorary pallbearers were F. J. Buschow, A. C. Blake, Ezra Cunningham, Allen Dover, Wayne Dingler, O. B. Witherspoon, Russell Cox, W. A. Hensley and members of the Wesley Bible class. Mr. Starr was born September 6, 1876, at Sunnyside, Spalding county, Ga., and attended school in Sunnyside and Calhoun, Ga. He enlisted in the U.S. army in 1898 at the beginning of the Spanish-American war. He served in Cuba on a hospital ship, and in the Philippines, returning to this country in May, 1900. He was married to Miss Pauline Rankin at Calhoun, Ga., on November 21, 1900. He lived at Sunnyside, Ga., where he was in the mercantile business until 1906, when he moved to Cove [Ark]. A short time later he moved into Indian Territory, later Oklahoma, and lived in the Smithville vicinity. During these years he taught school, was in the mercantile business, and served as postmaster. During the last 20 years of his active life he was a timber buyer for the old Cove Lumber company and various other lumber companies in this area. He had been retired about 15 years. In 1953 he moved to Mena [Ark], where he lived until his death on December 29, 1956. Mr. Starr had been an active Methodist layman all his life, had taught Sunday school classes for most of his adult life and was teacher of the Wesley class at the M. E. church at the time of his death. In 1910 he was one of the organizers and a charter member of the Methodist church in Watson, Okla. This church was moved to Smithville in 1916 and he had been continuously active there until his removal to Mena. He was instrumental in the Folsom Training school being established at Smithville and served on the official board for several years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Starr, Mena; four daughters, Miss Alice M. Starr, Oklahoma City, Okla., Mrs. Helen Wade, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Gladys Bynum Kansas City., Mo., Mrs. Ione Paul, Seattle, Wash.; two sons, Harry Starr, Jr., St. Elmo, Ill., Jack Starr, Lawrence, Kans.; two brothers, J. H. Starr, Macon, Ga., R. C. Starr, Fort Gibson, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. J. F. Keener, Hopewell, Va., Mrs. Edwin Julian, Johnson City, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. From out of town attending the funeral were L. H. Starr, H. W. Starr, W. E. Starr, T. B. Starr, Magnolia, Ark.; Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Johnson and daughters, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Ray Johnson, Poteau, Okla.; Mrs. Helen Cigaenero and son, Texarkana, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jordan, Mrs. Rufe Woods, Coy Chatham, Mrs. Geneva Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fleming, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, Smithville, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. G.
