Griffin Georgia, Wednesday Morning, February 15, 1888 Funeral of Mr. J.J. White The funeral of Mr. John J. White occurred yesterday morning from the residence of his mother, Mrs. H.B. White on Poplar Street, at 10:30 o'clock, and was largely attended. Mr. John J. White was born Sept. 7th 1845, in Virginia, and was special courier to General Robert E. Lee during most of the war, attending him in most of the important battles until old enough to enlist, which was not until the close of the war. Just after the close of the war, he moved to Albany, Ga., where he was engaged in the cotton business. On January 7th 1869 he was married to Miss Dora Hutchinson of Louisville, Ky., by whom he leaves two daughters. Shortly after moving to Albany he moved to St. Louis, where he became a prominent member of the St. Louis Grain and Cotton Exchange. He came south just one year ago for his health and then went to New Mexico for the same purpose. From there he proceeded to El Paso, Texas, and after two weeks died on Feb. 7th 1888 and was buried here on Feb. 14th. Mr. J.J. White was born on the 7th of the month, baptized on the 7th, married on the 7th, and died on the 7th. To his relatives we wish all the consolation that religion and philosophy may give.
