Griffin, Georgia, Friday Morning, January 18, 1889 Griffin and Augusta United The Wedding and Reception of Mr. and Mrs. George B. White The Augusta Evening News gives the following account of the Griffin and Augusta marriage: The hymeneal season was again pleasantly emphasized this morning, and Augusta furnishes a fair and lovely bride for a popular young business man from Griffin. At the parsonage of St. John's Methodist church at 10 o'clock, Miss Florrie Richards Cook, daughter of Rev. Dr. Cook, was married to Mr. George B. White, and after the ceremony and congratulations the young couple left on the midday train of the Georgia road. Dr. Cook officiated and the bridegroom was accompanied by his friend, Mr. T.E. Drewry, also of Griffin. Mr. White is connected with a prominent banking institution in Griffin, and is highly esteemed by all who know him. Miss Cook is much admired and loved by her friends, and she has been a particular favorite during her brief residence in Augusta. About a score of intimate friends of the family were present at the ceremony this morning. An elegant reception will be tendered the young couple in Griffin tomorrow evening by the groom's father. The reception given by Mr. and Mrs. George B. White last night was a most elegant affair and was largely attended. The bride and groom looked happy and handsome in their wedding costumes and were overwhelmed with congratulations by their many friends. The News is of the opinion, which is showed also by the public, that both parties were prizes equal to the Louisiana lottery, and a hopes that they may live long to enjoy their good fortune.
