All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002523 November 10, 2009, 9:10 am Colonial Bond Book R, pp. 381 – 382 Know all men by these presents that I John Jones of the Parish of Saint Andrew in the province of Georgia planter out of the Natural love and affection which I fear unto my Grandson Joshua Jones son of Samuel Jones of the same place planter and for his better support and maintenance have given and granted and by these presents do give and grant unto the said Samuel Jones a negro woman named Diana and her two Children Samson and Rachel To have and to hold the said negroe woman Diana and her said Children and Increase unto the said Samuel Jones his Exors or Admors and Assigns for ever and to be delivered him when he shall arrive at his age of twenty one years, and in case of the death of the said Joshua Jones before his attaining such age and without lawful Issue then I give and grant the said negro woman named Diana and her Increase as above mentioned unto my said son Samuel Jones his Exors Admors and Assigns forever as his and their own proper Goods ^ and chattels, provided nevertheless that the labour and hire of the said negro woman named Diana shall be taken and deemed in the same manner as the produce of my Estate personal during my life and as settled in and by a certain Indenture made between the said John Jones of the one part and the said Samuel Jones of the other part, and bearing even date herewith, In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the sixteenth day of March in the year of our lord 1769 Sealed and Delivered In the presence of John Jones Who Witnesses also that the words {1} and her two Children Sampson & Rachel {2} said Children and {3} as above mentioned was interlined before the signing & sealing of these presents Jonathan Searth Wm Searth Georgia St John’s Parish Personally Appeared before me John Martin one of his Majestys Justices assigned to keep the peace for the Parish aforesaid Jonathan Searth who being duly sworn maketh Oath that he was present & saw John Jones sign seal & deliver the within Instrument of writing as his act & deed and that he saw William Searth subscribe his name as witness with himself thereto ~~~~~~~ ___ he also swears that the words and her two Children Sampson & Rachel / was interlined in the Eight line an that the words / said children and / was Interlined in the ninth line and that the words / as abovementioned/ was Interlined in the sixteenth line before the Sealing and Delivering ~ Sworn before me this 25th day of April 1770 } Jonathan Searth John Martin:/ JP Recorded 1st august 1770 ^ In trust for the said Joshua Jones his heirs Executors administrators File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/statewide/history/other/jonesjoh331ms.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.5 Kb
