Broadnax in the war with Great Britian declared by the United States on the fifteenthth day of June AD 1812, that he was drafted at Eatonton ,Putnam County ,Georgia on or about the fifteenth day of February AD 1814 (some records say 1815) for the term of six months and continued in active service in said war for the term of three months and was honorably discharged at Ft. Hawkins in the state of Georgia on or about the fifteenth day of May AD 1814 (other records say 1815) in account of peace having been made." He was stationed at "Fort Mitchell most of the time of his service."He was paid eight dollars a month for his service and for two days travel. According to records provided by his widow, he was drafted at age 30. His occupation at the time was farmer. He was 5 ft. 10 or 11 inches, with light hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. His weight was 150 pounds. His widow also said they resided in the following counties in Georgia during their marriage: Coweta, Cobb, Monroe, Butts, Meriweather, Paulding and in Blount County, Alabama. Could he have been a tenant farmer or sharecropper?? He received a pension and a bounty land warrant (120 acres) for his service in the War of 1812..
