                           TO CATCH EVIL DOERS
TELFAIR ENTERPRISE: The grand jury at the last term of Superior Court
recommended  that the sheriff be instructed to purchase for the county a pair of
first class blood hounds. The same have been purchased and are now in the
keeping of Sheriff Steward. It will not now be such an easy matter for
evil-doers to evade the clutches of the law, and the midnight prowler had better
look out or he will find himself in jail. 

                              HAMP SEAR'S LOSS
Ocilla Dispatch: Saturday afternoon April 20, Mr. Hamp Sears, treasurer of
Coffee county, lost hie fine country residence and household and kitchen
furniture.The estimated loss is $3,000.00 with no insurance. The safe, in which
he kept the county's cash, amounting to $3,000.00, is reported to have been
destroyed in the fire. The fire started in the top of the building, and as the
time wind was blowing pretty hard at the time, the flames spread rapidly and the
whole building was soon consumed.

                            PLANT SYSTEM AND THE W. A. L.
Cordele Sentinel: Persistent rumors has it that the Plant System has made, or is
about to make, a deal whereby it becomes the owner of the Waycross Air Line
Railroad and that the new owners will take up the contract with the City of
Cordele and will push the road on to Fort Valley, which would, through friendly
relations with the Southern, put this system into the city of Atlanta. This
being true, the Plant System would have an advantage of fifty-five miles saved
in handling the fast mail service to Jacksonville, Fla., and through vestibuled
trains will run over this new line, making it one of the best roads that enters
this section of Georgia
