Recent developments which will be made public shortly show that there is not only a strong desire and necessity for such a company. but, in addition, that the men and the opportunity have met, and that the city will be given the benefit of this important industry. At Americus a syndicate composed of Messrs: P. C. Clegg; C. R. Whitley; W. E. Murphy, and D. F. Davenport has purchased two-thirds interest in the International Medicine Company, the headquarters of which has been established in that city. Dr. J. W. Jones, an experienced practitioner, is at the head of the company, and will continue to act in the capacity of consulting physician. The following officers have been elected: President; P/ / Clegg; Secretary , C. R. Whitely; Treasurer, W. E. Murphy; Business Manager D. F. Davenport. The capital stock of the company will be $6,000.00 but can be increased at will to $10,000.00. The stock holders of the Ocmulgee Brick Company of Americus met Saturday for the purpose of effecting a permanent organization and for the election of officers. After reading of the charter an election of officers was held, resulting as follows: President, P. C. Clegg; secretary and treasurer, C. R. Whitely; Directors; S. H. Hawkins; Allen Fort; B. P. Hollis; Thornton Wheatley; P. C. Clegg; H. C. Bagley; G. W. Glover; W. J. Bickenstaff; and W. E. Murphy. The capital tock ofthe company is $100,000.00, and the charter permits this amount to be increased to $500,000.00 as may be desired. At the meeting yesterday it was decided to call in 50 per cent of the stock for immediate purposes. Americus Times: A year ago a member of the well-known banking house of John A. Hambleton & Co,m of Baltimore, came to Americus upon invitation of a number of leading citizens, and while here had abundant opportunity of seeing the city and her future outlook as well. This house has invested more than a million dollars in Americus securities, having bought the bonds of the Savannah, Americus and Montgomery railroad, as well as the water works bonds, sewerage bonds and the bonds for the public buildings to be erected here. This fact alone would show their faith in the city and her institutions. But is seems that this were not enough, for yesterday a leading banking house in this city received a telegram from the Baltimore firm stating that they desired to make other investments here that would pay and authorizing the bank to draw upon them for $50,000.00 to be put into Americus enterprises.
