Brown is an employee of the road and rode from the passenger depot early Friday morning on an outgoing train. He wanted to get off at the yards, and jumped the train there, It was going very fast and he fell causing the accident. Capt. W.GT. S. Martin of Lagrange died at his home on Broad street, Wednesday night at 9:30 o'clock. He was an ex-sheriff of Troup county, having filled the office for eight years. At the beginning of the war he was a mere lad, but his cool courage and bravery won him promotion which finally placed him at the head of his company. He was buried Thursday afternoon in Hillview cemetery. The Convention of North Georgia Horse Swapper will meet in Gainesville October 11th to hold for three days. People will be present from every point in North Georgia and many from Gaineesville and North Carolina, It will be a large gathering. Five thousand animals are expected. Swapping and racing stock will be the main feature. A fine half mile track is located there.
