James P. Graves Dead. Confederate Veteran and Son of Georgia Expires at 94. Gen. James Porterfield Graves, aged 94 years, and adjutant general in the Confederate army, died here Saturday at the home of his son, Col. John Temple Graves, 1754 Q street northwest. Gen. Graves was one of the "grand old men" of the old South, and preserved to the end full and splendid command of his faculties. He had a wide circle of acquaintances in Washington, New York, and Georgia, who will mourn his passing. Gen. Graves was born in Georgia, and was one of the most universaly beloved and honored men in that State. As the oldest living alumnus of the University of Georgia, he took pride in that institution. A lifelong Presbyterian, Gen. Graves remained a consistent member of that church to the hour of his death. He is survived by two sons, Col. John Temple graves and Maj. Hal T.
