Jesse Walton Family Cemetery, located in Stephens County 
near Hartwell lake at "Traveler's Rest". Take US 123 N 
GA365 from Toccoa to Riverdale Rd. "Traveler's Rest" 1/4 
mile on right.

Additional Comments:
There are no actural graves for the Walton family located here. The area has 
been probed for grave shafts and recorded by GA Department of Natural 
Resources and none were found. It appears that field stone markers were placed 
here as a result of a vivid but fanciful legend about the massacre of Jesse 
Walton and his family. No one knows the original source of the legend which 
has been documented as untrue. It seems that the legend was invented in the 
minds of the Jarrett family members and passed from member to member.
