J. S. Aderhold, one of Stephens County's Pioneer citizens passed away at the 
age of 69 following two or more years of physical illness.
Mr. Aderhold lived a good life was a devoted Husband and a loving father. He 
loved his family, home and friends. He was a real Christian, active and 
faithful member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. He loved his Lord, studied his 
Bible daily and lived by its teachings. He had an exceptional ability to teach 
and instruct others, and was among the best Sunday school teachers of his 
church having taught different classes for the last 35 or 40 years.
He also served as Sunday School Superintendent, church clerk and treasurer, 
for a number of years, always keeping the record in perfect condition. He was 
always ready to do his past in any good cause in his church and community. He 
contributed largely for the rebuilding of Liberty Hill Church and was not 
satisfied until it was completed. He was known as the main pillow of his 
church and the weather was never too bad to keep him from all services. In the 
last few years of his life he was deprived of the privilege of going to church 
but every time he passed Liberty Hill a bright and happy expression would beam 
on his face and he recognized it as a "Sacred Place" dear to his heart. He 
would wave his hand and want to stop. There are many things he did that will 
live on and be remembered and cherished by those who knew him and loved him.
He served as rural mail carrier out from Eastanollee for 27 years and always 
met his patrons with a smile and a deep desire to serve them well. In 1902 he 
was married to Mary Ida Payne and to them were born 4 children.
Mr. Aderhold is survived by his wife, one son and Two daughters, Harvey 
Aderhold of Augusta, Mrs. Agness Harrison of Toccoa, and Mrs. Pauline 
Culpepper of Evans Ga.; two grandchildren and one brother, Newt Aderhold of 
Kannapolis, N.C., also a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
The body lay in state from 10 till 11 o'clock at Liberty Hill Church Saturday 
morning. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. A. T. Cline, J. P. Coe, a 
lifelong friend made a very impressive talk about his character, loyalty and 
faithfulness during his life. The Liberty Hill choir sang his favorite songs. 
The pallbearers were his nephews: T. F. Kellar, Dewey Cheek, Rance Ayers, 
Bryan Ayers, Harold Payne and Frank Payne.
The Beautiful Floral offering and the large crowd showed his high esteem and 
respect.
Fred Northcutt Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
