Jack Camp, well known young Toccoa citizen, and son of Mr. & Mrs. Tom Camp, arrived in Toccoa Saturday afternoon. Sgt. Camp was the first Korean War Casualty from Stephens County to be returned home for final rites and interment. Sgt. Camp was born in this county, February 10, 1915, and had lived here all his life with the exception of the time spent in the service of his country. He was a graduate of Eastanollee High School and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church. He entered the service in 1941. He lost his life in action in Korea, August 6, 1950. He was widely known throughout this community and leaves hundreds of friends and relatives to mourn his passing. Besides his parents, he is survived by 2 brothers, John Dan Camp and Fred Camp; 2 sisters, Mrs. Jack Walker and Mrs. Robert Harrison, all of Toccoa. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock from Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. James Whitlock and Rev. J. H. Crunkleton officiating. Full military honors were accorded the deceased by the Toccoa National Guard. Interment was in Rock Creek Cemetery.
