W. Chastain Buried Monday Mr. J. W. Chastain, age 78 years, died at his home near Toccoa Sunday afternoon after having an attack of influenza only a week or two prior to his death. Mr. Chastain, known to all his friends as Uncle Dick, was a veteran of the Confederacy and on Memorial Day all flags in Toccoa lowered half mast to honor their dead hero who went through the Civil War with them. Mr. Chastain was a prominent farmer and in the years past was of the best known Concrete bridge builders in this section of the state. A Christian who always had the interest of his church at heart and it was through his great effort with other brothers of his section that the New Church was built in the last year to re-organize Rock Creek Church members so that they might worship God and upbuild his kingdom. He leaves beside his widow, two daughters; Mrs. J. C. Alred, of Toccoa and Miss Sallie Chastain. Three sons; Messrs. Will George and Junious Chastain. Funeral services were held at the Rock Creek Church, Monday afternoon, where hundreds of friends had gathered to pay their last tribute and respect to one whom they loved. The Rev. Holman Kelly and J. H. Crunkleton, officiating. Interment followed in the churchyard. McNeely & Co. were in charge of funeral arrangements.
