July 12, 1934 MR. WARREN JACKSON DEATON, one of the few remaining Confederate veterans and one of Stephens County’s most honored and highly respected citizens, passed on to his eternal reward last Friday night at ten o’clock. He had lived to the ripe old age of ninety-four. Mr. Deaton was well-known in both Georgia and South Carolina, being the son of the late William Deaton and Mrs. Mary Eleanor Alexander Deaton. He was born and reared at the Deaton old homeplace on Tugalo River. His life was on of service to his church fellowman, and his passing is mourned by his many relative and friends. Mr. Deaton had been ill for some time at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Eugene Harrison, near Toccoa, and every attention was given him up to the time of his passing. Many beautiful floral tributes were sent to show the high esteem in which he was held by his many friends. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Harrison and Mrs. R. A. Cline, of Decatur, GA; one son, Mr. Paul Deaton of Atlanta; one brother, Mr. L. B. Deaton of Toccoa and four grandsons. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday morning at eleven o’clock with rev. George R. Fuller officiating. Interment was in Toccoa Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. B. P. Brown, J. R. McLaughen, A. J. Henderson, W. J. Rothell, B. H. Moseley, and Claude Duke. Bond & Northcutt Funeral Directors were in charge. Additional Comments: DOB: Aug. 1843, South Carolina His wife, Martha J.
