A son of the late William Crawford and Elizabeth Reynolds Farmer, he was born October 10, 1875 in that portion of Stephens County. He had made his home in the same community all of his life, and was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church at the time of his death. He had also served as a deacon of other Baptist Churches in this area for some 70 years. He served as clerk of Mountain Grove Baptist Church for 25 years, was clerk of the Liberty Baptist Association for 20 years, and was also a former trustee of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Farmer had served on the Stephens County Board of Education for 29 years, and was chairman of the board for 18 years. his wife, Mrs. Elvira Thomason Farmer, died May 16, 1957. Survivors: three daughters, Miss Gladys Farmer of the home, Mrs. Woodrow Neal of Rutledge, Ga., Mrs. E.J. Lloyd of Athens; two sons, Glenn Farmer, Sr., and Seaborn Farmer of Toccoa; 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Farmer of Toccoa; one sister, Mrs. Emma Stevens of Cornelia; one daughter in law, Mrs. Randall Farmer of Toccoa.
