Toccoa Record, January 12, 1967
LUTHER MAURICE HEAD, 39, of Detroit, Michigan, former Toccoa citizen passed 
away in a Detroit Hospital early Saturday morning.
Mr. Head had been in ill health for some 5 months and seriously ill for 5 
weeks prior to his death.
The son of Luther and Mae Wheeler Head of Toccoa, both of whom survive him, he 
was born March 20, 1927 in Stephens County and lived here for a number of 
years.  He was affiliated with Coats & Clark in Toccoa before entering the 
service of his country in 1946.  For the past 19 years, he had resided in 
Detroit where he was affiliated with the Thompson Products Company.  Mr. Head 
was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors beside his parents, include 2 daughters, Linda Head and Brenda Head 
both of Warren, MI; 2 sisters, Mrs. Paul Denham of Toccoa and Mrs. Violet Yage 
of Iola, TX.  A number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wed. afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Calvary 
Baptist Church in Toccoa with Rev. James Downs, Rev. Deweece Addison, and Rev. 
A. C. Carpenter officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Tom Morgan, Tom LeCroy, Woodrow 
Burns, Tyrus Davis, Pete Mealor and Fred Head.
Interment was in Stephens Memorial Gardens with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in 
charge of arrangements.
