Southerland deceased July 12, 2010 May 20, 2008, 5:03 pm Newspaper Mrs. Arliva Watkins Mrs. Arliva Watkins Passes In Her Ninety-Second Year Mrs. Arliva Watkins, age 92’ years, and one of the most prominent Women of Stephens County, died at her late residence near Union Hill school, last Tuesday morning at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. Watkins had been in Ill Health for over a year, however she was stricken with pneumonia about two weeks ago, and death resulted. Everything possible was done to restore Mrs. Watkins to good health, but the Lord saw fit to take her home. She had lived a Christian life, and was ready to meet Him in peace. She had been a member of Toms Creek church for years. She is survived by one son; J.H. Watkins, one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Gibbs, 28 grandchildren, 99 great-grandchildren, and one Great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Toms Creek church before a large concourse of relatives and friends, with Rev. E. H. Collins and Rev. Geo. R. Fuller officiating. Interment was in Toms Creek cemetery. Pallbearers were Messsrs. Hubert Looney, Frank Herron, Walt White, Claud Davis, Ben Sheriff and Kilbern Rumsey. Flower-bearers were her Great-granddaughters, Misses Mattie Lou Watkins, Sarah Lou Curley, Blondean Watkins, Louise Worley and Gladys Watkins. Bond & Northcutt Funeral Directors.
