Tugalo Gas retiree with 51 years of service

John Henry Roberts, 83, of Toccoa, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at ACC Hospice 
in Commerce. 

A son of the late Jim C. and Jeanie Thomason Roberts, he was born Nov. 15, 
1924, in Carnesville and had lived most of his life in Stephens County. He was 
a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Tugalo Gas Co. with 51 
years of service and was a member of Hill Street Baptist Church. He was a 
member of VFW Post 4346.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Coker Roberts, who died in 1997.  

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Stephen Holbrooks of 
Toccoa; two grandchildren and their spouses, Stephanie and Kris Harrison of 
Eastanollee and Shane and Emily Holbrooks of Toccoa; two great-grandchildren, 
Justin Lee Harrison and Katelyn Harrison; two sisters, Lucille Coker and Bertie 
Mae Roberts, both of Toccoa; two brothers, Doyle Roberts of Toccoa and Fletcher 
Roberts of Martin; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-
Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Scott officiating. Interment followed 
in Roselane Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brian Roberts, Gary Roberts, Greg Coker, Stewart Coker, Stacy 
Coker and Tommy Gilmer.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
