D. Whiten, Pioneer Toccoa Citizen Passes In Eighty-Second Year Mrs. W. D. Whiten, age 82 passed away at her late residence here at 9:55 A. M., Tuesday, following an illness of only a few days. Mrs. Whiten was a pioneer citizen, well known throughout this section, and greatly beloved. Surviving are three sons; J. H. Whiten of Baxley, Georgia; L. J. Whiten of Eastanollee, Georgia and Rev. G. N. Whiten, Bassett, Virginia; two daughters Mrs. C. L. Williams, of Athens, and Mrs. O. C. Patat, of this city, (Toccoa, Georgia). Funeral services were held at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment was in the family burial lot. Dr. A. T. Cline, her pastor assisted by Dr. Elam F. Dempsey, Rev. A. C. Craft, Rev. F. C. Carter and Rev. Roy Merck, Officiated.
