O. Whiten, died here September 7th following a short illness. Death resulted from a blood poison infection, followed by pneumonia. The youth had contracted blood poisoning when he jumped, from the roof of a barn at his home. In jumping, he landed on a sharp stick, which stuck in his foot, and caused an infection to set up. Surviving are his parents, also two sisters, Grace and Maude Whiten, of Franklin County. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the home with Rev. J. E. Hall of Lavonia, and Rev. W. T. Holcomb of Royston, officiating. Interment was in Carnes Creek cemetery. Favorite songs were rendered by Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Sisk, Mr. J.P. Coe and Mrs. J. T. Acree. Pallbearers were Clifford Miller, Randolph Dendy, Mark Turner, H. H. Gibson, C. B. Aiken, W. J. Andrews, Hubert Moore and Paul Crump. Honorary pallbearers were cousins of the deceased. Lipscomb Northcutt Co. was in charge of arrangements.
