She was born November 13, 1906, in Franklin County and resided there for a number of years. She had lived in Stephens County for the past 27 years. Prior to retirement, she taught in the public school system for 38 years. Miss. Whiten was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 33 years. She was a member of the Retired School Teachers Association. She was the daughter of the late Jackson Oliver (Jack) and Rozilla Davis Whiten. She was preceded in death by a brother Jack Davis Whiten, and an infant sister. She is survived by a sister, Miss. Maude Whiten of Toccoa, Georgia, and a number of cousins. Funeral services were held Friday at the Chapel of Acree-Davis funeral Home with Mr. Clarence Davis officiating. Clinton Ayers, Mark Stanford, Kenneth Keller, Alfred Cash, Ed Bryant and Bill Moon served as pallbearers. Interment was in Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
