By virtue of an order from the honorable the Inferior Court of said County 
sitting for ordinary purposes on the Second Monday of this instant to us 
directed authorizing and requiring us to make distribution of the Negroes of 
John Thornton deceased among the distributees of said Estate we proceeded on 
this day to the discharge of that duty and submit the following as the 
Result.  Their being Eleven Distributees to said Estate to wit Alexander P 
Crawford in right of his wife Cassandra Crawford daughter of said deceased 
Robert C Thornton son of deceased of full age William H Thornton son of 
deceased of full age Lucy M C Thornton daughter of said deceased of full age 
John H Thornton son of said deceased of full age Joseph Wood guardian of 
Dewitt C Thornton minor heir of deceased William H Thornton guardian of George 
W Thornton minor heir of deceased William H Thornton guardian of Edward I 
Thornton minor heir of deceased William H Thornton guardian of Charles P 
Thornton minor heir of deceased William H Thornton guardian of Joseph B 
Thornton minor heir of deceased Lucy M C Thornton guardian of Mary L I 
Thornton minor heir of deceased we divided the said negroes into Eleven shares 
numbered 1..2..3..4..5..6..7..8..9..10..11..which being drawn for by lot in 
the usual way were assigned to the distributees as follows
Share No 1 To William H Thornton guardian for George Thornton consisting of 
four negroes viz Peter a man thirty-nine years old Sylvey a girl nine years 
old Jim a boy fourteen years old Rebecca a woman sixty five years old all 
valued at $2200.00 
Share No 2 To Alexander P Crawford in the right of his wife consisting of 
Milton a negro man valued at $1,000.00 a negro girl Amanda valued at $550.00 
Rachael a negro woman valued at $500.00 and Jordan a negro boy valued at 
$200.00 making $2250.00 
Share No 3 to William H Thornton guardian of Joseph B Thornton minor 
consisting of four negroes viz Jefferson a negro man Sarah a negro girl Caty a 
negro woman Caroline a negro child valued in all at $2150.00 
Share No 4 to William H Thornton consisting of four negroes viz Jerry a negro 
man Big Mary a woman Tony a negro man Billy a negro man valued in all at 
$2300.00 
Share No 5 to L M C Thornton consisting of four negroes viz Little Jerry a man 
Charity a girl L Judy a girl and Willie a boy valued in all at $2300.00 
Share No 6 to John H Thornton consisting of four negroes viz Henry a negro man 
Harriet a girl Sharper a man & Gilbert a boy valued in all at $2300.00
 Share No 7 to William H Thornton guardian of Edward I Thornton consisting of 
four negroes viz Augustus a man Lucinda a woman Andrew a man & prince a boy 
valued in all at $2300.00 
Share No 8 to Robert C Thornton consisting of four negroes viz John a man 
Franky a girl Sinah(?) a woman and Ned a boy valued in all at $2275.00 
Share No 9 to Joseph Wood guardian for Dewitt C Thornton minor consisting of 
four negroes viz Joseph a man Phillis a woman L Mary a girl & Miles a boy 
valued in all $2300.00 
Share No 10 to William H Thornton guardian of Charles P Thornton minor 
consisting of four negroes viz Lee a man Louisa a woman Paulina a girl & 
Hester a girl valued in all at $2325.00 
Share No 11 to L M C Thornton guardian of Mary L I Thornton minor consisting 
of four negroes viz Frank a boy Ann a woman George a man and Judy a woman 
valued in all at $2310.66 cts
