Mr. George W. Ard, of Lumpkin, died Monday after an illness of only ten days.  
He was a one-legged Confederate soldier and has been tax collector of Stewart 
County continuously since 1864.  His official acts for the past seventeen years 
have recently been investigated, and his books were found absolutely correct in 
every detail.  He was a deacon in the Baptist church.
