Hill vjbhill@alltel.net October 17, 2004, 1:39 am Stewart-Webster Journal, August 13, 1970, Thursday Mrs. Eunice Harbuck Succumbs To Illness, Funeral At Macedonia Mrs. Eunice McKenzie Harbuck, 69, of Preston died about 7:00 a.m. Thursday in the Americus and Sumter County Hospital after an extended illness. A native of Stewart County, Mrs. Harbuck was born March 31, 1901, daughter of the late Jim and Leila Kelly McKenzie of the Red Hill Community. She was first married to the late Gordon Stephens, who died many years ago, and in 1937 she married Henry Edgar Harbuck. She had, at one time, been employed by the WPA and was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of the Dumas Community near Preston, three sons, Gordon Stephens, Jr of Crescent City, Calif, James C. Stephens, of Orlando, Fl, and Raymond Stephens of Phenix City, Al; one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bailey of Preston; three step-sons, Arthur Harbuck of Preston, Oscar Harbuck of Americus, and Henry Harbuck, Jr, Valdosta; one brother, Alvin McKenzie of Richland, one sister, Mrs. Dolly Will Harry of Richland, nineteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church in the Center Point Community with the Rev. Edward Holloway, pastor, and the Rev. Milford Brooks, pastor of the Enterprise Baptist Church conducting the rites. The Enterprise Church Choir sang "When the Roll is Called up Yonder", and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye", with Mrs. Buddy Averett as pianist. Interment was in the church cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home, Billy Poteat, director, in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were George A. (Buck) Smith, Merrill Smith, W. C. Cobb, Bill Morgan, Jim Ligon, and William Harry.
