On account of the phone line which extends out into the neighborhood of Mr. Kent being out of order they were unable to get Dr. when it was discovered that the child had been bitten, and when one was finally secured the condition of the little one was such that medical attention could not benefit her. The child had been out in the yard playing, as was her usual custom, when the snake bit her. She ran into the house to her mother with the snake coiled about her arms and its fangs sunk into the flesh and it was with trouble Mrs. Kent beat off and killed the snake.
