Mr. Stephens had suffered with the hernia for quite a while and Sunday or Monday suffered an acute attack of appendicitis. The two troubles complicated by intestinal adhesions made his case almost hopeless. However, the surgeons and anxious friends and relatives rendered every service possible to alleviate his sufferings and stay the hand of death that swiftly moved with such rapid progress. Funeral services were conducted at Red Hill Christian Church Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. J. H. Stanford of Cusseta, a former pastor of Brooklyn, officiating. Interment was made at the Red Hill Cemetery. Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife and four children, together with numerous other relatives and friends who mourn his death.
