Hill vjbhill@alltel.net August 9, 2004, 11:14 pm Stewart-Webster Journal, Thursday, November 23, 1961 Maurice Warren, 53, WWII Veteran Succumbs To Illness Maurice Warren, 53, highly esteemed citizen of Richland and Veteran of WWII died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home here after an extended illness. Born June 9, 1908, he was the son of the late James E. and Eula Lee Stephens Warren of Stewart County. He had made Richland his home and had spent his life here with exception to his army service during the WWII conflict. He was a welder and mechanic. He was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 128, at Richland. He had many fine traits and many lifelong friends and acquaintances who sincerely regret his untimely illness and death. Mr. Warren married the former Miss Maggie Harry of Webster County June 14, 1941. Surviving are his wife of Richland and four daughters; Mrs. Douglas Layton of Washington, DC, Eula Lee and Barbara Ann Warren of Richland and Ruby Joyce Warren of Blakely, one grandson, two brothers, Hoke Warren of Dawson and Lynn Burgamy of Cusseta. Also, a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 0'clock p.m. at the Enterprise Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe Carr, pastor, will officiate and interment will be in the Enterprise Cemetery. Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
