     Funeral Rites Wednesday For Mrs. Woodruff Beloved Lumpkin Lady  
  Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock at the 
Lumpkin Baptist Church for Mrs. Gussie Stephens Woodruff, with the pastor, 
Rev. J. L. Brown, officiating.  He was assisted by Rev. C. A. Abbott, pastor 
of the Lumpkin Methodist Church and Dr. Charles Grande of Columbus.
  Mr. John Anglin sang "It Pays to Serve Jesus"  accompanied at the organ by 
Mr. Boyd Moon.
  Pallbearers were Messrs:  Robert Halliday, Adrian Anglin, Norman Williamson, 
A. J. Moye, P. B. Pearson, Buck Hawkins. L. M. Moye, Jr.  Deacons of the 
Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers.  Interment was in Eastside 
Cemetery with Fort Brothers in charge of arrangements.
  Mrs. Woodruff was born in Richland June 17, 1878, a daughter of the late Mr. 
Henry Marion Stephens and the late Mrs. Carolyn Brinson Stephens.  She was 
married to Mr. Henry O. Woodruff who preceded her in death May 8, 1949.
  Making her home in Lumpkin since 1901 she had through the years, been a 
devout Christian interested in her Church and gave her best efforts to its 
work.  She was a gracious lady who had endeared herself to many, and who had, 
in a quiet and graceful manner, been a good neighbor and friend.
  She had been in declining health for a number of years, becoming quite ill, 
Friday evening of last week.  She was carried to Patterson Hospital, Cuthbert, 
Saturday morning where she died Tuesday afternoon.
  She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Georgena W. Moye of Lumpkin and one 
sister Mrs. C. E. Woodruff of Pine Mountain.
